Each class has a different set of service requirements to complete.

• Freshman complete at least 10 hours for the year; 2.5 hours are due each quarter. In addition, freshmen complete on service reflection due in the third quarter.
• Sophomores complete at least 20 hours total hours for the year; 5 hours are due each quarter. There are two reflections due for the year, one in the second quarter and one in the fourth quarter.
• Juniors complete at least 25 hours total for the year; 6.25 hours are due each quarter. No reflections are due if SBL was complete sophomore year.
• Seniors complete at least 20 hours total for the year; 5 hours are due each quarter. No reflections are due if SBL has been completed sophomore of junior year.
• Juniors and Seniors who have not completed SBL complete 20 hours of service and seven assignments over the course of the year to fulfill a graduation requirement.

What date can a student begin doing service?

Service done beginning Friday, May 29, 2026 counts for the 2026-2027 school year. This is the day after Saint Joseph's last exams.

When are Service Hours Due?

Service should be logged as soon as they are done. Logs for completed service hours must be logged in MobileServe quarterly: October 1, December 1, March 1, May 1. All logged hours must be first verified by the supervisor, then approved by Deacon Andy by the end of each quarter.

Where must hours be done?

All service done must be completed at an approved site.

A minimum of 1/4 (2.5 hours for freshmen; 5 hours for sophomores and seniors; 6.25 hours for juniors) of the total required service hours must be tier 1 service site on the approved list.
